Bachata Viva HK is not only a studio. It is the story of building Hong Kong Bachata from the ground up — through quiet beginnings, COVID lockdowns, underground parties, festival trips, and the dancers who stayed.

Every chapter made the next one possible.
2019
The first systematic Bachata teaching in Hong Kong
Winson Cheung became the first Bachata instructor here to teach systematically when almost no one knew what Bachata was. The scene was tiny — almost just a handful of dancers — and the work was starting from zero.
2020–2022
COVID, and the first underground party
When dance activities across Hong Kong shut down, we refused to let the floor disappear. We hosted our first underground Bachata party to keep dancing alive — the beginning of our party culture under the hardest conditions.
2022–2024
Rapid growth and the first core dancers
We promoted dance festival trips and watched the first batch of core dancers grow real skills — taking private lessons, mastering technique, and exploring social dance through travel. The community started to feel like a future.
2025–now
The strongest chapter yet
This is our best period: we consistently host parties with 100+ dancers, and at the highest moments we have welcomed 150+ dancers on the floor. The dream is no longer small — and we are still here to protect it.
We hope the dance community stays healthy and keeps growing. We will always be part of it — and take care of it like a baby.
