From passion
All of this starts from passion
Hey, I am Winson. I have always loved living in HK, but I also felt the pressure of a fast-paced city. I needed an outlet to express myself and connect with others.
I discovered social dancing in 2016 and was drawn to Bachata — a romantic, connection-first dance from the Dominican Republic. I wanted to share that feeling with more people in Hong Kong, where the scene was still small.
Why Hong Kong
Why can HK be a place for Bachata?
After traveling to dance cities in 2019, I felt Hong Kong Bachata culture was comparatively small. I started teaching, hoping to grow a scene where dancers from Singapore, Korea, Shanghai, Shenzhen, and beyond would come enjoy.
Covid was a huge challenge, but we found ways to keep learning. In 2023 and beyond, I am proud of how far the community has come — HK is on track to become a real social dance city.
